Enable Suspension

Enabling suspension in WHMCS allows you to automatically suspend hosting accounts or services when certain conditions are met, such as non-payment or violation of terms of service. Here's how you can enable suspension in WHMCS:

  1. Login to WHMCS:

    • Access your WHMCS administrator dashboard using your credentials.
  2. Navigate to Automation Settings:

    • From the main menu, go to "Setup" > "Automation Settings".
  3. Configure Suspension Settings:

    • In the "Automation Settings" section, you'll find various tabs for different automation aspects.

    • Go to the "Auto Suspension" tab.

  4. Enable Auto Suspension:

    • Check the box that says "Automatically Suspend Invoices".

    • This means that if a client's invoice goes overdue, their hosting account or service will be automatically suspended.

  5. Configure Suspension Settings:

    • You can set the number of days after which an unpaid invoice will lead to automatic suspension.

    • Optionally, you can specify a suspension reason that will be displayed to the client when their service is suspended.

  6. Save Changes:

    • Click "Save Changes" to apply the suspension settings.
  7. Testing Suspension:

    • Perform tests to ensure that the automatic suspension is functioning as expected. You can simulate an overdue invoice to trigger a suspension.
  8. Monitoring and Notifications:

    • Keep an eye on the suspension logs and notifications to check for any issues or discrepancies in the automatic suspension process.
  9. Unsuspend Functionality (Optional):

    • If you have enabled automatic suspension, it's important to also have a process in place for clients to unsuspend their services once they resolve the issue (e.g., by making a payment). This can typically be done through the client portal.
  10. Client Communication:

  • It's a good practice to inform your clients about your suspension policy in your terms of service or in communication materials.

Remember to regularly review and adjust your suspension settings as your business requirements evolve. Additionally, consider providing clear instructions and support for clients who may need assistance with the suspension and unsuspension process.
