Custom Client Field

Custom client fields in WHMCS allow you to collect and store additional information about your clients beyond the standard fields provided. This feature provides flexibility in tailoring WHMCS to your specific business needs. Here's how you can work with custom client fields:

  1. Creating a Custom Client Field:

    • Log into WHMCS.
    • Go to "Setup" > "Custom Client Fields."
    • Click on the "Create New Field" button.
    • Fill in the details for the new field, including its name, type (e.g., text box, dropdown menu), and any validation rules.
    • Click "Save Changes" to create the field.
  2. Editing a Custom Client Field:

    • In the "Custom Client Fields" section, locate the field you want to edit.
    • Click on the name of the field to open the editing options.
    • Make the necessary changes and click "Save Changes" to update the field.
  3. Using Custom Client Fields:

    • The custom fields will now be visible on the client's profile page in the admin area.
    • When adding a new client or editing an existing one, you will see the custom fields you created.
  4. Displaying Custom Fields on the Client Registration Form:

    • To display custom fields on the client registration form, go to "Setup" > "General Settings."
    • In the "Client Profile" tab, check the box next to the custom field you want to display during registration.
    • Click "Save Changes."
  5. Custom Field Validation:

    • Depending on the field type and validation rules you set, WHMCS will enforce the specified rules when clients fill in the custom fields.
  6. Deleting a Custom Client Field:

    • Be cautious when deleting custom fields, as it may result in data loss.
    • To delete a custom client field, go to "Setup" > "Custom Client Fields," and click the red trash can icon next to the field you want to delete.

Custom client fields are a valuable tool for collecting specific information about your clients that may be unique to your business requirements. They allow you to tailor your client database to suit your individual needs, providing a more comprehensive view of your clients' profiles.
