How to configure cookie conscent in Web Presence Builder for Plesk?

As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, Web Presence Builder (formerly known as Presence Builder) is a website-building tool included with Plesk. It provides an easy way to create and design websites.

Regarding cookie consent, Web Presence Builder itself doesn't provide a built-in feature for managing cookies. Instead, you would typically handle cookie consent at the server or website level using a dedicated cookie consent plugin or script.

Here's a general guide on how to configure cookie consent for a website hosted on Plesk:

  1. Choose a Cookie Consent Solution:

    • Select a cookie consent solution that suits your needs. There are various plugins and scripts available, both free and paid. Examples include CookieBot, OneTrust, GDPR Cookie Consent, etc.
  2. Install the Plugin or Script:

    • If you're using a CMS like WordPress, Joomla, or Drupal, you can install a cookie consent plugin directly from the CMS's plugin repository.

    • If you're using a custom website, you'll need to integrate a cookie consent script into your website's code. This script will display the cookie consent banner.

  3. Configure the Plugin or Script:

    • Follow the documentation provided by the chosen cookie consent solution to configure it according to your preferences. This may include specifying the types of cookies used on your site and customizing the appearance of the consent banner.
  4. Generate and Implement the Cookie Policy:

    • Create a cookie policy page on your website that explains which cookies are used and for what purposes. Link to this page from the cookie consent banner.
  5. Testing:

    • Test the cookie consent banner to ensure it displays correctly and functions as expected. Verify that users can give or deny consent and that the banner disappears after a user's choice.
  6. Regularly Update and Monitor:

    • Keep your cookie policy and consent solution up-to-date with any changes to your site's use of cookies. Regularly review and update your cookie policy to reflect any modifications in your site's cookie usage.

Remember to consider local data protection laws, such as GDPR in the European Union, when implementing cookie consent. It's essential to provide clear information about the types of cookies used and obtain user consent before placing non-essential cookies on their devices.

Please note that the availability of specific features or plugins may have changed after September 2021. Always refer to the latest Plesk and Web Presence Builder documentation for the most up-to-date information.
